There are very few skiers lucky enough to simply buy new ski boots and not suffer any form of discomfort, unfortunately a large proportion of that few are unwittingly wearing ski boots which are simply too big and that is more often than not the fault of ski shops who, in order to make a quick sale put the skier into a shell size larger.
In an extensive test carried out it was found that 70% of skiers were wearing boots which were 2 sizes or more too big, it was also established that an average of 72% of skiers ought to have their boots customized or modified in order to obtain a good fit. The problem these days lies in the fact that good boot fitters are hard to find, a growing number of shops today do not want the extra cost of training staff to do the job correctly nor do they want to tie up a member of staff for the couple of hours often required to do the job properly.
At Alpine sports we do the job the right way, we make your boots fit your feet, it could simply involve the making of inserts or using stretching tools to widen the shell, even if that isn’t enough we have worked with Sidas Conformable (the worlds primary manufacturer of fit aids) for over 24 years and if required or requested can make custom footbeds or custom foam liners for your own boots. Our policy is that we do not profiteer out of your discomfort, we have a good and longstanding reputation for bootfitting excellence and doing it at a realistic price and we intend not only to keep that reputation but to expand it.
